Tucker Wetmore may be dominating country music right now, especially after winning the 2026 ACM New Male Artist of the Year, but according to the rising star, music might not be the only stage in his future. While co-hosting Backstage Country alongside Elaina Smith, Wetmore opened up about wanting to dip his toes into acting. Fans already got a preview of his acting chops in his cinematic “Brunette” music video.
ICYMI, here’s that music video.
Tucker Wetmore - Brunette
‘Brunette’ Became the Perfect Acting Playground
Wetmore revealed to Smith that acting is something he’s genuinely interested in pursuing more seriously. “I love film, and I love the idea of film. I'm a huge movie guru, and I've always wanted to be in film. And so, the fact that I'm able to do and explore that part of my brain and that part of what my aspirations are in this life with music is kind of just like the opening the door to hopefully down the road, you know, doing movies or maybe a TV show or whatnot, whatever it is.”
The Washington native added, “I have a lot of goals in this life. But it was so much fun working on that music video, you know, just cool to see all my ideas and all my thoughts come to life, and sitting there directing and writing the treatments down with my content guy, his name's Chase Foster. And we just sat there for months and just talked, spitballed ideas. And then we're sitting there the day of, just directing the whole thing. And I got to have my buddies, some of my friends, in the video too. So it was an amazing experience.”
Tucker Wetmore: A Country Star Expanding His Creative World
When asked what type of movies he would want to act in, Wetmore did not hesitate. “I want to act. Honestly, I want to. I would like to do action-movie-type stuff or maybe a rom-com like a Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds rom-com type thing. And I don't know, I just feel like acting would be cool and obviously I'm a musician at heart and an artist at heart, but I think there's different avenues of my heart and my brain that I do want to explore like that.”
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter added that he wanted to look back on his life 80 years from now and be able to say he had done everything he wanted to do. He also revealed that he read for a movie a couple of weeks ago. “I'm not sure if I got the part or not, but it went great. It went great. But, you know, even doing something as small as that was exciting for me. And so, if the right thing comes along, then we'll find time to make it happen. Because when I look back on my life, you know, 80 years from now, I'm gonna want to be like, ‘Dang, I really did everything that I wanted to do in this life.”
