Jason Aldean is giving fans a closer look at his latest music while serving as guest co-host alongside Elaina Smith on Backstage Country. During the weeklong radio takeover, the country superstar discusses his new single, "Don't Tell On Me," sharing what drew him to the song and why he knew it deserved a spot in his catalog.
"Prime Jason Aldean for the Summer of 2026”
Smith shared that people have been describing “Don’t Tell On Me” as “prime Jason Aldean for the summer of 2026.” The Georgia native said, “I love it. I love that people are digging the song. We spent a lot of time working on these albums and stuff and trying to write and find songs that represent what I want to go out and play. And I love it when people are digging it.”

He goes on to share that the album was a lot of fun to make. “I feel like there's a lot of really cool songs on this record. And sonically I said this when we released the album, I think sonically, this is one of the coolest records that we've ever had. So excited that people are digging it.”
He added, “I feel like we've always tried to just keep it moving in the right direction and, and get out there and do things maybe we haven't done before or just try to try to push the envelope a little bit with each album. With certain songs or whatever, you’re gonna swing and miss every now and then. But for the most part, I feel like when we put something on an album, it's because we feel like it has a purpose and I'm glad people are digging it.”
Supposed to be the First Single
Aldean revealed the track was supposed to be his album, Songs About Us’, first single. “We were kind of getting geared up for that. This was going to launch the album. And then before we got to that point, the guys turned in a song called ‘How Far Does a Goodbye Go?’ And that ended up making us kind of pivot a little bit and going, ‘Okay, well, we should probably go with that first and this second.’ And so that's kind of how it went down.”
