Matt moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of performing in 2004. In 2006, he was a "Nashville Star" contestant. He overcame a drug and alcohol addiction. He was the winner of CMT's "Next Superstar" in 2011. His first EP came put in 2012 titled "America's Favorite Pastime".
