Lee Brice’s Children Seem to Be Following in His Footsteps

Lee Brice has spent nearly two decades building a career around songwriting and performing, but his proudest stories these days often have nothing to do with his own career.

During his week on Backstage Country, Brice opened up about his three children and the different interests they're developing—including music, football, track and even horseback riding.

And judging from his stories, there's plenty of personality in the Brice household.

Lee Brice’s Musical Family

Brice's youngest daughter, Trulee, is already making music with her dad.

The pair have written two or three songs together and recorded them, and Brice couldn't hide his excitement when talking about her talents. “She plays guitar, piano, drums, anything you put in her hands. She's definitely a very special, talented person,” the “A Woman Like You” singer shared.

Brice also hinted that listeners could eventually hear some of the music they've created together.

His second son, Ryker, is taking a more instinctive approach to music. According to his dad, Ryker plays guitar and drums but isn't particularly concerned about playing everything perfectly. “He works a little harder at it, but he don't really care if he's perfect or if he's playing that guitar or playing the drums.” He chuckled, “he just wants to get there and sing so hard. He's like Dave Grohl out there just ready to rock. And he just wants that crowd. Ever since he was too young to even know any better, but he has no fear and music is something.”

His oldest son, Takoda, has also shown an interest in guitar. He joked that his son recently came back asking him to teach him some chords again. Brice suggested Takoda had reached the age where seeing his friends play guitar—and perhaps impressing the girls—made the instrument considerably more interesting.

A Family Tour?

With so much musical talent in the household, Shomby naturally asked whether a Brice family tour could eventually happen.

Brice didn't rule it out.

His brother Lewis is already a musician and collaborates with him regularly. Brice also praised his wife Sarah's songwriting, noting that while she doesn't necessarily think of herself as a singer, he believes she has a natural musical spirit.

A family project isn't currently a concrete plan, but Brice is considering releasing the songs he wrote with Trulee. “I guarantee you, at some point I will have at least a couple of the things that I've written with my little girl out, because they are pretty special.”
