MSSU Names Health Sciences Center after Julio S. Leon
The Health Sciences Center at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin now has a new name. The Julio S. Leon Health Sciences Center was formally dedicated today. Leon says it's an honor.
"I spent 38 years at this institution, and I think the faculty will say that I never was at a loss for words... but today I am."
University President Dr. Alan Marble said the facility, which opened in 2010, was one of Leon's most important visions for the school.
"It provides students with state-of-the-art facilities in which to learn and grow into successful careers. Not only that, it also served as a major resource to the community after the tornado in May 2011."
That wasn't the only dedication; the University also dedicated the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation Nursing Department, among others. You can see photos of the dedication in our photo gallery on the front page of NewsTalkKZRG.com.
