Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill was in Joplin Wednesday morning touring the American Ramp Company to rally support of the Export-Import Bank in Missouri. The Bank supports American jobs by financing foreign sales of U.S. products without any cost to taxpayers. McCaskill tells News Talk KZRG her and fellow Senator Roy Blunt are on the same page.
"Roy Blunt supports the Export-Import Bank. This has been ginned up by members of the Tea Party, who frankly don't want members of the government doing anything, much less providing a back-stop for expansion for international businesses for the wonderful American manufacturers of this country."
Without congressional action, the Export-Import Bank is set to expire September 30th. American Ramp Company CEO Jim Moss tells News Talk KZRG how his business would be affected if the legislation falls through.
"We'll just operating with more risk. There's a lot of peace of mind in doing international business, to have an entity that is larger than ourselves that's going to guarantee that we are going to get the money makes a big difference."
American Ramp Company has sold their products in 32 countries, employing 87 people.
