Joplin Kiwanis, Soroptimist Clubs Donate to Tetanus Elimination Project
The Joplin Kiwanis Club and Soroptimist International of Joplin have raised money for a project to wipe out tetanus. Larry Shumaker (shoe-may-kur) of the Kiwanis Club tells News Talk KZRG about the donation being made today to the Kiwanis International Eliminate Project:
"We're making a $3,900 donation to the Kiwanis Eliminate Project, which is dedicated to eliminating maternal neonatal tetanus in our world. For $1.80 you can send a series of tetanus shots to someone living in a third world country, along with information they need, to have a sterile birthing process."
The project is a joint effort between the Kiwanis club and UNICEF to provide tetanus vaccines to people in third-world countries.
