Resurfacing Work Begins on I-44 near Joplin Tonight

Drivers in the Newton County portion of Joplin can expect some nighttime lane closures and traffic delays on I-44 starting tonight. Dave Mitchell of MoDOT tells News Talk KZRG it's due to a resurfacing project.

"We're going to be doing some resurfacing between Range Line and the state line to the west. We'll resurface the shoulders and driving lanes, as well as replace the guardrails there. We plan on doing most of the work at night, between 7pm and 7am Monday thru Thursday."

The guardrail work and resurfacing of eastbound I-44 will start immediately, while the westbound lanes will see work start the week of September 15th. MoDOT expects to be done by November.
