Joplin High School Bus Route Policy Explained

While Monday (August 25) is the first day of school for many in the Joplin School District, September 2nd will be the first day for Joplin High School students, and for many of them, that means walking to school. The School District says any student living within a two-mile radius - from 7th to 32nd Street, and from Range Line to Maiden Lane - will not be able to catch a bus ride to the school. Spokeswoman Kelli Price tells News Talk KZRG it's a move to what the district's bus route policy was prior to the May 2011 tornado. The state of Missouri requires school districts to offer bus routes for any student that lives more than 3.5 miles from school.
