Schweich Sets September 2 Start Date for Joplin Audit
Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich has given News Talk KZRG a timeline for when his audit of the City of Joplin will begin:
"There's an open meeting set for September 2nd where we'll do our entrance interview, and it will be open to the public."
Schweich made the announcement first on the KZRG Morning News Watch today (Tuesday), confirming that his team will also be looking into the investigation and subsequent firing of former City Manager Mark Rohr.
"Yes. We do what are called 'performance audits'. Most cities and counties and the like will have an outside auditor do a financial audit, and we do that too, but our job under the Missouri Constitution is to make sure that officials charged with spending taxpayer money do so in accordance with the Missouri Constitution... we will do an overall performance audit."
