Carl Junction Church Preparing to Rebuild After Fire

After being destroyed by a tornado more than a decade ago, and by fire last week, the First United Methodist Church in Carl Junction is preparing to rebuild once again. For now, all services are being held at the Stark Auditorium in Carl Junction until the new church is rebuilt. Pastor Bill Kenagy tells News Talk KZRG how their first service went on Sunday.

"We had a great worship service, Mark Statler, the district superintendent of the southwest district of the United Methodist Church was in attendance. We're ready to go out and serve in our community."

Kenagy says church organizers are meeting tonight to see where to go from here.

"The initial contact with the insurance company has already been made. We're just getting into the business end now. The administrative council will meet this evening at 6:30, and we'll being laying out the plans for where we'll take our next steps."

Kenagy says the church has received an out pour of support from the community. If you'd like to follow their progress, you can find their updates on their facebook page.
