The Joplin School Board got to meet the face of the school district's state audit last night. Audit Manager Kelly Davis of the State Auditor's Office told the board how things would be going over the next 6 months or so:
"We have our fieldwork portion of the audit. During this stage we will be reviewing school records and procedures, and speaking with school officials as well as anyone else who wishes to provide unput."
The public is invited to comment by calling 800-347-8597.
Davis added that instead of one big report once the audit is done, there will be periodic reports throughout. Superintendent Dr. CJ Huff invited the audit after a public petition to hold one started circulating last month.
While the "fieldwork" portion of the audit began Monday, Davis added that the audit has technically been underway for three weeks.
