Galena High School Adds Piece of History to New School

As Galena school officials were cleaning out the old high school's old bus barn in preparation to move it so construction could start at the new high school, they found something really special. Superintendent Dr. Brian Smith tells News Talk KZRG about it.

We found an old keystone that went on our original high school here, so we talked to our architect about maybe incorporating it into our new facility. He thought it was a great idea, so we've done that."

Smith says the students will really appreciate it.

"It looks great. We stress to the kids the tradition we have here. We're very proud of it. It's actually carved out of stone, and the architect did a great job incorporating it."

The old keystone dates back 110 years to 1904.
