The Joplin Humane Society received enough food from the Joplin Outlaws and Mars Pet Care Wednesday afternoon to feed the shelter's dogs for a couple of weeks. The Outlaw's have always hosted a night at the ballpark to support the shelter, but it was rained out this year. Still wanting to help out, one of the player's host families was able to get 30 large bags donated by their employer, Mars Pet Care. Outlaws General Manager Mark Rains tells News Talk KZRG everyone was ecstatic.
"They were very excited, but they like coming to the game more than anything with their animals that need to be adopted and just let people know we're out here, we've got a good cause if you're looking for a pet."
The Joplin Humane Society has more than 450 animals currently in their system.
