Drought Conditions Downgraded

Recent rains have improved southwest Missouri's drought conditions. The four to seven inches that covered the area means the drought has been downgraded to moderate following severe conditions. Pat Miller, an agronomist with the University of Missouri Extension Service in Nevada tells News Talk KZRG how long the dry spell had been going on.

"We are still a little dry in the subsoil down deep, but this has gone a long way to restore some of that subsoil moisture. We have essentially been dry since last fall."

Miller says the forecast for the rest of the summer is looking "average".
