Missouri Southern State University is hosting a Relay for Life tonight. It's an annual event that celebrates cancer survivors while raising money to find a cure for cancer. Community Manager Ted Easley tells News Talk KZRG about the emotional highlight of the event: the luminaria ceremony where hundreds of white bags with a candles inside are placed around the track .
"All of the hundreds of luminaria candles that line the track will be lit. It's followed by a lap of silence, in which people reflect on those who we've lost, or those who continue to fight cancer."
Relay for Life starts at 6pm.
