Red Cross Receives $100,000 for Tornado Victims

The American Red Cross was honored to receive $100,000 from Tamko for tornado relief in Baxter Springs and Quapaw Friday morning. The roofing products manufacturer did the same thing for Joplin three years ago. CEO David Humphreys tells News Talk KZRG their donation is all about paying it forward.

"The Joplin community received so much help from those communities in our time of need a couple of years ago, that we'd like to reciprocate, and help them as well."

Red Cross Regional Executive Officer of Southern Missouri, Debi Meeds tells News Talk KZRG, she hopes this donation will inspire others to do the same.

"You know, we can use it as a challenge. This company from Joplin stood up, they know what it's like to have their community be destroyed by a tornado, and now they're helping their neighbors. They're paying it forward."

Meeds says the money will go a long way in providing food, shelter, and clothing for hundred of families.
