Active Shooter Drills Coming Soon to Neosho School District
Students and staff in the Neosho school district will soon be learning how to handle an active shooter situation in the event that someone shows up at school with a gun. The district's resource officer took a training seminar last week and will now train the teachers and staff. Superintendent Dan Decker tells News Talk KZRG this training is huge.
"You never want to have to address an active shooter, and as a superintendent it's one of your worst nightmares, so preparing our staff and students is one of the things at the forefront of safety for our students."
Once all of the teachers and staff are trained this Spring, safety drills will be performed with students in the fall to meet the state's legislative standards of safety in schools.
