Judge Denies Bruner Motion for Lower Bond

Jeffrey Bruner appeared in Jasper County Circuit Court this morning, asking for a change of venue and to get a reduction in bond so he could reside with his parents in Springfield until his court date. Bruner has been in custody since November, charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of MSSU Assistant football coach Derek Moore. The defense argued Bruner should receive a change of venue due to too much extensive media coverage, fearing potential jurors will have already formed an opinion in the case. They also argued he should get a reduction in bond from $1 million to $250,000. Judge Gayle Crane denied that request. A ruling in the change of venue will be decided once all evidence has been reviewed.
