Carl Junction FAA Recieves $2,500 Grant

Monsanto recently chose the Future Farmers of America at Carl Junction High School to be the recipients of $2,500 through their America's Farmers Grow Communities grant after being nominated by a past member. Chapter Treasurer Kendall Ferris tells News Talk KZRG what the grant will mean for their organization.

"It'll definitely give us more of a financial nut so that we can have more people attend trips with us and just help the program all around."

Mike Garrett, the owner of Garrett Farms, and past member of the FAA was the one that nominated the organization for the grant. He tells News Talk KZRG what they'll use the money for.

"Less budget stress, of course. They'll probably be able to do a few more activities, provide for some of the expenses for a lot of the members at convention, shows, and different activities they have."

And one of these upcoming activities includes Food for America. Grade schoolers will be coming to visit the farm and FAA members will teach the kids about farming. The Carl Junction FAA currently has about 80 members.
