Carl Junction's Annual Bluegrass Festival is September 27th, and this year things will be a little different. For 15 years, two long time organizers over saw it, but the city took over last year. This year, the Carl Junction Chamber of Commerce will be in charge. Gary Stubblefield tells News Talk KZRG why they're taking over the event.
"The city probably isn't in the best position to festival, but the festival is so important to our town economically that the city approached us and asked if we'd consider taking ownership of it."
Stubblefield says this is also the perfect opportunity to grow the festival; they're hoping to expand the car show, and possibly add a chili cook off, but adds that the focus will always be on bluegrass music.
