Sunday's strong winds didn't do firefighters in Carl Junction any favors. Fire Chief Bill Dunn tells News Talk KZRG one fire was started when some power lines started twisting in the wind:
"Our biggest one was caused by two power lines getting together and arcing, causing a power line to fall to the ground and start a grass fire. We were fortunate to keep it away from the houses in that area, it did reach some outbuildings."
Carl Junction firefighters responded to ten fires - all caused by the windy conditions - within an 8-hour period Sunday afternoon and evening.
