Tornado-Destroyed Joplin Schools Reopen

Three of five Joplin school buildings destroyed by a tornado more than two years ago have reopened. Classes resumed today at two elementary schools and one middle school, and Superintendent Dr. CJ Huff says it's been a long time coming.

"We've got East Middle, Soaring Heights Elementary, and Irving Elementary are all reopened. The teachers have everything ready, and we're just happy to get the students back to some stability."

Each of the three new buildings also has a FEMA-certified safe room, capable of withstanding an EF-5 tornado.
