It's bitterly cold out there, and the City of Joplin has made some spaces available if you need help keeping warm. City Spokeswoman Lynn Onstot gives News Talk KZRG the list:
"The Red Cross has opened a warming shelter in their office at 410 Jackson Avenue, open until 4:30pm, and city facilities will be open until 5pm, including City Hall, Joplin Health Department, the Dr. Donald Clark Public Safety Center, the Public Safety Training Center, Joplin Regional Airport, and the Athletic Center on West 1st."
For after-hours warming shelters, Onstot recommends contacting a non-profit group in the area, like Souls Harbor, the Salvation Army or Watered Gardens. The full list of daytime warming shelters can be found at
