Watered Gardens in Joplin is working on a different way to help those in need. Director James Whitford tells News talk KZRG what the "True Charity Initiative" is all about.
"It's something we launched about a year ago, and its purpose is to provide just and effective alternatives to welfare. The welfare system is really not working to help people up and out of poverty, but actually encouraging people to stay where they are."
Whitford adds that Watered Gardens is holding a special meeting, open to the public, about the initiative Thursday at 1pm at Ozark Christian College. Find out more at TrueCharityJoplin.org.
