Nixa Contractor Admits to Stealing from Tornado Victims



A Nixa contractor hired to repair tornado damage at a Joplin elderly couple's home has pled guilty to stealing more than $73,000 from them. 58-year-old Terry Parker has pled guilty to bank fraud, wire fraud and money laundering, according to US Attorney Tammy Dickinson. Parker took a job at the couple's home and wrote a check to himself from the victims in the amount of $38,640. He also stole another $34,000 from an online account he set up in the victims' names. He faces up to 70 years in prison and a fine of $1.75-million.
