Joplin Firefighters Deal with Apartment Blaze

A fire at a downtown Joplin apartment building was quickly put out Sunday night. The fire started in a mattress in a 7th floor apartment at the Frisco Apartments at 6th and Main. Keith Stammer with the Joplin Fire Department tells News Talk KZRG the building's sprinkler system gets a big assist in putting the fire out.

"You wonder how quickly you can get to an apartment fire to put it out, but the fact of the matter is the sprinkler system did a lot of the work for us."

It took about 20 minutes from the time firefighters arrived to put out the fire. One person was treated at the scene for a superficial burn; otherwise, no one was injured.
