There's a celebration in Carterville today. The annual Route 66 Festival has a parade in the morning, crafters, vendors, games and music all day. Proceeds will benefit Carterville's city park, where the festival takes place. Judy Martin of the Carterville Park Board tells News Talk KZRG they've made some improvements to the park this year.
"We were able to build permanent restrooms and a cantina. We're really proud of that, as we've been working on that for a long time. We also now have a 40x40 gazebo."
There will also be a raffle for many prizes, with a golf cart as the grand prize. Raffle tickets are available at Carterville businesses.
