Webb City State Representative Charlie Davis is still upset with Governor Jay Nixon. The governor's veto of a state income tax cut was upheld this week, with Nixon having told educators the bill would've hurt funding for schools. Davis says the Governor's record on such matters is quite telling.
"All of our schools were believing and listening to him and his message, but who cuts education funding every year? Every year we (the lawmakers) fund education to a higher and higher level, and every year he cuts it down."
Nixon withheld $400 million from the state budget earlier this year, saying it would be needed to protect against the tax cut should he veto be overridden. He released part of the money Thursday.
