Alligator Found in Joplin

There's a new animal at the Joplin Humane Society--an alligator. Tianna Fisher with the Humane Society tells News Talk KZRG the gator was found Sunday in the 1200 block of Monroe.

"It's my understanding that a couple was getting out of the car, and all of a sudden they saw an alligator. So they called in, and had him caught, and brought in."

Fisher says the Humane Society is keeping the 2-foot-long gator temporarily while they look for a permanent place for it. And in case you're thinking of adopting it, Fisher says it's against the law to have an alligator in the Joplin city limits.

"He cannot be seen, and we've got him in a safe place. I know we'll have people asking, but no, he's not going to be available for adoption."
