A woman was killed early this morning when she tried to drive across a flooded roadway in McDonald County. 69-year-old Helen Pendergraft of Noel was driving on Route 90 near Jane when she reached a part of the road that had been overtaken by water from Brush Creek, according to Sgt. Mike Watson of the Missouri Highway Patrol.
"She attempted to cross the area where the water was over the roadway. It turned out the water was six feet deep, so when she tried to cross her vehicle was swept off the roadway, where she ultimately drowned."
Watson tells News Talk KZRG it's a tragic reminder that if you see water on the roadway, you should not try to cross it.
