A big event is coming to Joplin next weekend. Patrick Tuttle of the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau tells News Talk KZRG there are high hopes for the Route 66 International Festival.
"It's a very important tourism piece. Route 66 is here, and we have not really focused on it as a tourism destination. We need to work harder on embracing our Route 66 heritage."
Tuttle's expecting a turnout of thousands.
"People from all over the world are coming to town. We've talked with people from five different countries that will be attending.
News Talk KZRG is among the sponsors of the festival, which happens in downtown Joplin August 1st thru 3rd. Find out more at www.Route66InternationalFestival.com .
