Mercy Donates St. John's Land to Joplin Groups

Mercy Hospital Joplin donated their 50-acre campus at the tornado-destroyed St. John's Hospital to several Joplin entities today. Mercy Joplin President Gary Pulsipher tells News Talk KZRG the land belongs to the community now.

"This is exciting. When we decided early on that we wouldn't be able to use our campus, our leader Lynn Britton said 'Let's make this something that Joplin will treasure for years.'"

12 acres will go to the Joplin School District for a new Irving Elementary School. The rest of the land will go to the Joplin Museum Complex and rebuilding the Stained Glass Theatre. Concepts for the remaining land include a museum, memorial garden and a forested area combined with parking.
