Three people have been arrested for trying to kidnap a Joplin toddler. Lt. Brian Lewis of the Joplin Police Department tells News Talk KZRG 22-year-old Tayvon Smith and 21-year-old Ron King, both of Joplin, broke into a home in the 1400 block of West 5th Street yesterday and tried to kidnap a one-year-old girl.
"The victim was in the home when subjects were able to break in. The victim holed up in a bedroom with the child; a couple of shots were fired by the suspects, but nobody was hit, nobody was hurt. They fled on foot."
Police say they were working for 27-year-old Elise Deboutez of Nevada, who's the child's non-custodial mother. She and the two men have all been arrested. See photos of each suspect by clicking here.
