13 homes in Southeast Kansas are getting fixed up this week thanks to 30 volunteers from around the country as part of National Servant Week. The volunteers, who travelled from churches in New Jersey, Indiana, and Kansas got here Monday ready to build decks, handicap ramps, paint, and do yard work. Pastor Rocco Mallardi with Trinity Lutheran and St. Paul's Lutheran churches tells News Talk KZRG he was impressed.
"For a group of 30 people to do 13 homes in a week, and that's five major construction jobs, I'm really impressed with them."
Trinity Lutheran and St. Paul's Lutheran churches received a grant through the Lutheran Church, the Missouri Senate, and the Kansas District to fund the projects.
