Missouri Sheriffs Now Responsible for CCW Permits

A number of new laws are going into effect in Missouri. State Representative Charlie Davis tells News Talk KZRG one of them would put the process of issuing a concealed weapon permit in the hands of sheriff offices alone.

"That's where it should've been all along. You've got the Department of Revenue, which is made up of people who aren't elected and are appointed by the Governor, and to have them do it... it shouldn't have happened. We probably gave them the job because they usually handle licenses already and it would've been the easiest way to add that distinction to the licenses... but now it'll be handled by those who should've been doing it from the beginning."

The Department of Revenue used to be responsible for issuing the permits, but came under fire after it was revealed they were scanning and keeping applicants' personal information.
