Area Lawmaker Describes Storm Shelter Incentive Bill
One area lawmaker is pushing for a bill that would give an incentive to future storm shelter owners. Representative Mike Kelley of Lamar tells News Talk KZRG about a bill co-sponsored by lawmakers out of Webb City, Carthage, Neosho, and Pineville:
"This is something that would help incentivize the purchase of storm shelters by giving future buyers a tax reduction. Missouri has had tornadic activity all over the state, and this is just an opportunity to help Missourians make some smart purchasing decisions."
The bill would max out at $2-million, offering $5,000 tax-reduction increments on a first-come, first-serve basis. It was heard in committe for the first time last week.
